Jacky’s Bio

Two businessmen in suits talking in an office with large windows and city buildings outside.

Jacky represents taxpayers in disputes with the CRA at all stages, from audits through to appeals. His practice includes a broad range of tax controversy matters, with particular focus on income characterization issues involving alleged business income from home sales and securities trading. He acts for both individual and corporate clients facing reassessments and penalty exposure tied to these types of audits.

Before joining Schmidt & Gilmour, Jacky practised at a national tax law firm where he advised on domestic and cross-border tax planning for corporations, partnerships, and high-net-worth individuals. That experience informs his litigation work, allowing him to identify planning missteps, evaluate the CRA’s position, and structure a clear path forward for resolution.

Jacky has completed two years of the CPA In-Depth Tax Program and holds a focused, analytical approach to file management. He brings disciplined technical thinking to disputes involving both traditional income tax issues and newer CRA audit trends.
